Southern Miss Continues Preparations for the New Orleans Bowl

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team continued to work towards the December 21st R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl with a two hour practice this afternoon.
The Golden Eagles worked out in shorts with shoulder pads and helmets at Hattiesburg High School since the Mississippi Youth Football Championships were held at M.M. Roberts Stadium today.
"We have finished up classes and all the finals are done so I think everyone is pretty excited to be focused only on Troy and this bowl game," head coach Larry Fedora said. "I think all this extra practice time has been great for the future of the program. We have gotten to take a look at a lot of younger guys and the will carry us right into spring ball and next season."
Southern Miss is scheduled to practice four more times before departing for New Orleans Wednesday afternoon. Once in the Crescent City the Golden Eagles will work out at Tulane University Thursday and Friday. A walk through at the Superdome in tentatively scheduled for Saturday. All practices are closed to the public.
Tickets for the New Orleans Bowl are $40 for sidelines and $20 for students and can be purchased through the Pat Ferlise Athletic Ticket Office on West 4th St., from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, over the phone at 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or online at SouthernMiss.com.
