Southern Miss v. UTEP Game Notes October 4, 2008 M.M. Roberts Stadium
* Captains for Southern Miss were quarterback Austin Davis, defensive back Cameron O'Neal and linebacker Tokumbo Abanikanda.
* Today's attendance was 28,788.
* Southern Miss drops to 2-2 all-time against UTEP. This was the first time the teams played in Hattiesburg.
* Southern Miss is now 63-24 all-time in Conference USA play, including a 32-12 record at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
* The Golden Eagles are now 3-3 all-time in overtime. It was the first overtime game since East Carolina in 2006.
* Senior offensive lineman Ryan McKee started his 32nd consecutive game to lead the offensive line.
* Junior running back Damion Fletcher rushed for a career-high 260 yards. His previous high was 222 earlier this year against Louisiana-Lafayette. It is also a new junior class record.
* The 260 yards gives Fletcher 3,654 for his career, making him the new all-time leader at Southern Miss, passing Ben Garry (3,595).
* It was also his 18th career 100-yard game, the most in Southern Miss history.
* Fletcher's first rush of the game was a 56-yard run, the longest of his career.
* His four-yard touchdown run was his fourth of the season and 30th of his career, tying him for third all-time on the Golden Eagle list (Derrick Nix, Ben Garry).
* Redshirt freshman Austin Davis threw for 264 yards. It is Davis' fifth consecutive 200-yard game, making him the first quarterback in Golden Eagle history to throw for 200 or more yards in their first five games.
* The five 200 yard games are also the most ever for a freshman.
* Freshman DeAndre Brown caught eight passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. It was his first career 100-yard receiving game.
* Johdrick Morris blocked his first career punt in the first quarter. It was also the first blocked punt for Southern Miss since Ladarius Webb against Marshall, Nov. 25, 2006.
* Junior running back Tory Harrison's two-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was his second touchdown of the season.
* Harrison's 47-yard reception in the second quarter was the longest of his career.
* Senior linebacker Tokumbo Abanikanda recorded his first sack of the season and seventh of his career.
* Senior wide receiver Shawn Nelson caught seven passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. His ten-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter was his third of the season and 16th of his career. He is now fourth all-time on the school touchdown list.
* Southern Miss' 93-yard scoring drive at the end of regulation tied the season long drive. They also had a 93-yard drive at Arkansas State.
