Lady Eagle Volleyball Team Downs Southeastern Louisiana in Three Games

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - Mari Ruddick and Jillian Neave each posted a double-double and Southern Miss hit a solid .291 at the net as it defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 30-23, 30-23, 30-21 in a non-conference match Tuesday.
Ruddick pounded out a match-high 11 kills and added 10 digs while Neave dished out 39 assists and recorded a match-high 14 digs as USM (9-7) won its fifth straight match, while snapping Southeastern's five-match win streak.
Amanda Huntoon tallied 10 kills and hit .400 at the net as the Golden Eagles hit .244 in the opening game before hitting .282 and .367 in the final two. Maia Ivanova added 13 digs for USM while Huntoon and Ashley Petrinec had four blocks.
Lydia Adeosun led Southeastern (6-3) with nine kills while Melissa Jones followed with eight. Teri Byrum led the Lady Lions with 12 digs with Lauren Mayer adding 10. Southeastern hit .205 in the opening game but went .135 and .108 in the final two games to finish at .153.
Southern Miss returns to action on Friday when it opens Conference USA play against visiting Rice in a 7 p.m. at Reed Green Coliseum.
