Jeremy Parquet, signing in. Today is the 14th of June, and it's my last day in Hamburg. I have kind of mixed emotions about today. This whole NFL Europa experience has been a great one and I really enjoyed myself over here. And then with the teammates, and the camaraderie and the people and the fans have all been great to me since I've been over here, so it's all mixed emotions, but at the same time I'm excited to move on with my life. This whole Hamburg experience has been pretty decent, and I have to say that I've got to come back to Hamburg in the future.
But let's get to this football thing. We played Frankfurt at home last week and we won (36-31) and now we're number two in the league as far as going to the World Bowl, which is really exciting because we set our goal in training camp - which was to make it to the World Bowl, and not only make it there but get this NFL Europa championship. We're one step away from it now. We need to go out there and play well against the Rhein Fire on Saturday, beat them, and then we'll play the winner of the Frankfurt Galaxy vs. Cologne Centurions game this week. The only scenario that has us not making the World Bowl is if we lose to Rhein and Frankfurt and Cologne tie - which is highly unlikely. So it looks like we're going to the World Bowl which is very exciting. I'll get a chance to get up there and showcase my abilities again in front of the whole world and show them what I can do and what I've got.
So stay tuned folks. I'm going to bring the same game as we play Rhein this Saturday (live on DirectTV at noon, EST, on Saturday, June 16 and on the NFL Network on tape delay on Sunday, June 17 at midnight, EST). The following week we'll hopefully be in the World Bowl in the biggest stage that NFL Europa has to offer - which is exciting!
I've really enjoyed myself in Hamburg, and it was a great opportunity for me to learn a different culture, different people, different beliefs and just a different atmosphere. I even learned that everyone over here can drive a Benz if they want to - nah, I'm just playing! Well, I'm off to have my last meal in Hamburg here tonight, but I must say that the food has gotten better - which is a good thing.
Other than that, stay tuned, check us out. Hamburg Sea Devils to the top, all the way.
Be cool.
-Jeremy
