HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss volleyball team completed its spring training in preparation for its fall campaign.
The team participated in three spring tournaments which included stops at LSU, Ole Miss and Tulane.
"The team has been working hard on the court and in the weight room," Head Coach Ricci Luyties said. "This has been an important time for us in preparing for the fall. We are excited about the upcoming season."
The Golden Eagles return 10 letterwinners and look to build on its 2006 season, which featured seven newcomers, including Angela Hlavaty, a member of the Conference USA All-Freshman team.
Luyties also highlighted the play this spring of several other Lady Eagles.
"Morgan Johnson had an all-round solid spring," Luyties said. "Mari Ruddick hit the ball well. I thought Megan Gable stepped in and did a good job at the setter position."
Southern Miss opens the 2007 campaign at the University of Cincinnati tournament, Aug. 24-25.
