Southern Miss Volleyball Team Downs UCF In Four, 3-1

ORLANDO, Fla. -- - The Southern Miss volleyball team snapped a 10-match losing streak with a 3-1 win over UCF by a score of 19-30, 30-24, 30-27, 30-15.
Junior Ashley Petrinec led the way with 17 kills and 11 digs, Angela Hlavaty had 12 kills and Amanda Huntoon added 11 kills. Maia Ivanova recorded 12 digs.
UCF's Erin Campbell recorded a match-high 18 kills to go with 14 digs. Stephanie Serna added 10 kills.
UCF (9-21, 0-15) won game one, 30-19, recording 17 kills, while Southern Miss managed only nine kills.
Southern Miss (11-20, 2-13) evened the match at 1-1, when the Lady Eagles recorded 13 kills for a 30-24 win.
Both teams struggled in game three with Southern Miss hitting a -.026, only slightly better than UCF, who hit -.053. The Lady Eagles took a 2-1 lead with a 30-27 win.
Southern Miss won game four, 30-15, behind an 18-kill performance while hitting .441.
The Lady Eagles close out the regular season, hosting UCF in the season finale in a 1 p.m., match. Three seniors will be honored in a post-match ceremony.
