* Today's captains for Southern Miss were No. 22 James Denley, No. 47 Matthew Chatelain, No. 75 Chris Clark and No. 99 Sean Merrill.
* The Golden Eagles clinched their 14th straight winning season and 10th bowl game in the last 11 years.
* The 16-10 decision dropped Southern Miss' record over Arkansas State to 8-2-0 all-time and 5-1-0 in Hattiesburg.
* Southern Miss is now 7-0 on the year when leading at the half.
* Tory Harrison earned his first start of the season.
* Senior offensive lineman Chris Clark started his 38th straight game - the first 31 at left tackle and the last eight at left guard. Right tackle Ryan McKee has started 26 straight games.
* Senior defensive lineman Matthew Chatelain started his 45th straight game.
* With 300 yards of total offense, the Golden Eagles have now tallied a school-record 4,727 yards on the year, breaking last year's total of 4,635.
* C.J. Bailey's second quarter interception was his second of the year. He also had an interception at UAB.
* Sophomore running back Damion Fletcher ran for 133 on the day, giving him 1,431 for the year, moving into second on the single-season list, passing his 2006 total of 1,388.
* Fletcher went over 100 yards for the 15th time in his career, passing Derrick Nix for the second-most 100-yard games at Southern Miss, trailing only Ben Garry who had 17 in his career.
* With three field goals, place kicker Justin Estes kicked at least two field goals for the fifth time this season.
* Fletcher's second quarter touchdown gives him 15 on the year, third most for a season behind Sammy Winder (20, 1980) and Harold Shaw (16, 1997). It also gives him 26 for his career, tied for fifth all-time with Shelton Gandy (1985-88), Reggie Collier (1979-82) and Doyle Orange (1971-73).
* Senior defensive back Brandon Sumrall recovered a third quarter fumble. It was his first fumble recovery of the season and second of his career.
* The Golden Eagles have intercepted at least one pass in ten of their 12 games.
* Martavius Prince blocked a 28-yard field goal attempt. It was Southern Miss' first blocked field goal of the year, and the first since November 8, 2005 at Marshall.
