Football Finishes Up Preparations for Arkansas State Thursday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss went through its final drills here Thursday in preparation for its regular season football finale against Arkansas State this weekend at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at The Rock. Game time is set for 2 p.m., Saturday.
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the team started its day with a meal on campus before utilizing a late-afternoon practice that went one hour, 30 minutes at The Rock.
Southern Miss coach Jeff Bower said that the team enjoyed a good day overall with both the practice and the meal.
"We had a lot of families in for the meal," Bower said. "It was a good day."
The Golden Eagles (6-5) play an Arkansas State team that has won two of its last three games including a last-second triumph over North Texas, 31-27, last week. ASU quarterback Corey Leonard threw a 27-yard game-winning pass with two ticks remaining.
This season, Leonard has thrown for 2,117 yards and 16 touchdowns on 173-of-326 passing attempts and has rushed for 464 yards on 154 carries.
It will be the final home game for 21 seniors this Saturday at The Rock. This group has won 29 games over their careers and look to become the 10th class in the last 11 years to win at least 30 games during their careers. This class will get the chance to become the first in school history to win bowl games in all four years.
