Volleyball Team Sweeps UCF In Season Finale, 3-0

The Southern Miss volleyball team closed out its regular season with a 3-0 sweep of UCF by a score of 30-25, 30-20, 30-20.
Southern Miss (12-20, 3-13) was led by senior Amanda Huntoon with 12 kills, with Angela Hlavaty adding 11. Kristen Metz tallied a career seven blocks, while recording 12 assists. Katie Matlock finished the match with six aces and 23 assists. Senior Morgan Johnson added six blocks.
Stephanie Serna led UCF with a match-high 16 kills, while Erin Campbell added 13 digs.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead before UCF used a 6-3 run to tie the game at 6-6. Both teams battled back and forth until Southern Miss outscored UCF 9-3, taking a 17-11 lead. UCF managed to cut the lead to three on occasions with the last coming at 27-24, but Southern Miss ended the game with a kill by Huntoon for a 30-25 win.
UCF scored the first four points to start game two, but Southern Miss fought back using a 6-2 run to tie the game. After two more ties, the Lady Eagles pushed ahead on a 6-3 run and took what would be the lead for good at 12-9. Southern Miss took a 2-0 into intermission with a 30-20 win.
Southern Miss led early, 3-0, but UCF fought back using a 12-9 run to a 12-9 lead. UCF pushed ahead, 15-11, behind the play of Serna. Southern Miss then outscored the Knights, 7-1, taking an 18-16 lead. The Eagles closed out the game on a 12-4 run for a 30-20 win.
