Lady Eagles Prepares For C-USA Weekend Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Lady Eagle volleyball team continues Conference USA play, looking to snap a six-match losing streak when they host Memphis on Friday and UAB on Sunday in a weekend series.
Southern Miss (10-16, 1-9) is coming off a 3-0 loss to Tulane. Morgan Johnson led Southern Miss with 14 kills, while Maia Ivanova and Amy Flarity led the team with an 11 digs apiece.
Johnson paces Eagles with 279 kills, followed closely by Ashley Petrinec with 246. Four other players have 100 or more kills on the season, including Amanda Huntoon has 199, Angela Hlavaty has 168, Mari Ruddick has 157 and Cherry 136. Ivanova continues to lead the team in digs (380) and service aces (32). Neave is averaging 11.21 assist per game.
Memphis (18-9, 07-3) comes into the match, following a 3-1 loss to Ole Miss. Ashley Liford leads the team with 372 kills, followed by Shelby Burton with 353 kills. Christine Bach leads the team digs with 357. Laura Cote is averaging 12.49 assists per game.
UAB heads into the weekend with a 17-7 record and 7-3 in league play. Five players have recorded 100 or more kills on the season, led by Ivana Bozic with 326, followed by Fernanda Domingos with 262. Brianna Galvin leads the team in digs with 358. Nevena Stefanvo handles the setting duties, averaging 12.35 assists per game.
Following the weekend series, Southern Miss will have a three-match road swing, beginning at Marshall on Nov. 2, and then head to East Carolina on Nov. 4.
