Women's Basketball Team Concludes Four-Game Road Swing

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - Southern Miss concludes its four-game road swing, traveling to Tulsa, Okla., to play the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast over WXHB-FM 96.5 with the "Voice of the Lady Eagles" Jason Baker providing play-by-play action with former coach Kay James as the color analyst. The broadcast also is available on SouthernMiss.com.
Southern Miss (11-10, 5-23) is coming off a 60-46 loss at UTEP, its second straight loss. Emer Foley came off the bench to lead the Lady Eagles with 16 points and nine rebounds. Kendra Reed and Anna Patterson added eight points each in the loss.
Sophomore Amber Eugene continues to team in scoring at 17.1 points per game, while Reed is second on the team at 16.8 points and Foley is averaging 14.8 points per game. Foley also leads the team in rebounding at 7.5 boards per game. Kristin Chaney leads the team in assists (133) and steals (47).
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 63.9 points and 36.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 41.0 percent from the field and 75.6 percent from the line. The Lady Eagles are shooting 32.5 percent from three-point range. Reed leads the team with 49.
Tulsa comes into the game with a 7-13 overall record and 2-6 in the league following an 83-65 loss at Rice on Saturday. Tandem Mays scored a game-high 20 points and Larissa Williams posted a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds for Tulsa.
Head Coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson is in her second season at Tulsa and owns a record of 33-19.
Following the Tulsa game, Southern Miss returns home to host SMU on Feb. 4 at 2 p.m., marking the beginning of a three-game homestand.
SOMETHING ABOUT TULSA
f¤ Tulsa is 7-13 on the year and 2-6 in league play. The Golden Hurricane is averaging 60.5 points and 39.2 rebounds per game as a team, while shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 66.1 percent from the line. Jillian Robbins is the only player averaging in double digits at 19.2 points per game to lead the team. She also leads the team in rebounding at 12.4 rebounds. Head Coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson returns five letterwinners, including two starters from last year's team that finished 26-6 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
ABOUT THE SERIES
f¤ This is the only the third meeting between the two teams and Tulsa leads the series 2-0. The Golden Hurricane defeated Southern Miss in the semifinals of the C-USA Tournament last season.
