HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Golden Eagle football team continued its preparations for Saturday's home opening game against Southeastern La., today, with a two-hour practice at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
"It was an ok day," Head Coach Jeff Bower said. "We're putting the game plan in and today was the first real heavy practice day, even though we worked last night."
Bower said the team is working on correcting mistakes from the Florida game.
"With putting the game plan in, you see some different things," Bower said. "So you're going to have a few mistakes. By the end of the week I wouldn't expect to see any."
Following practice, Bower updated the status of strep throat on the team.
"I guess we're doing ok," Bower said. "We had five or six players that weren't out here today. I hope it gets better."
Southern Miss (0-1) opens its home schedule on Saturday, hosting Southeastern La., (0-1) in a 6 p.m., contest in M.M. Roberts Stadium.
