HATTIESBURG, Miss. - For the second consecutive Saturday, while most other collegiate football teams were playing games, the Southern Miss football team practiced for an hour and a half at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility, continuing preparations for Tulsa and its second-consecutive Tuesday night game.
After what Head Coach Jeff Bower called `not a good week of preparation' leading up to the UCF game, he said practice this week has improved.
"It's been better," Bower said. "It wasn't a good week last week. Tomorrow is an important day. It's a Thursday practice. You want to walk off the practice field feeling good about yourself. There are some things we need to improve on mentally, but for the most part, it's been good."
Bower said that junior quarterback Jeremy Young (turf toe) said he felt better today, adding that he has done everything in practice this week. Bower also said that junior defensive lineman Sean Merrill (ankle) was limited again in practice today, but should be ready for Tuesday's game.
Game time for Tuesday's game is set for 6:30 p.m., and will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
