Throughout the 2006 Lady Eagle Volleyball season, each player will sit down for an interview with a member of the Southern Miss Athletic Media Relations staff to discuss what you want to know about Lady Eagle Volleyball and a little more. Can you dig it?
This week will feature sophomore outside hitter Ashley Petrinec.
Sept. 29, 2006
How do you think the season is going so far? "Especially after this past weekend, I think it's going well. We're picking up some games that we should be winning and practices are going well. I think that we're building up for the end of the season, which is what we ought to do."
What are your expectations for the remainder of the season? "Obviously, we'd like to win every game. I think that if we could make it to the upper-middle half of the conference and be at .500 on the season, it would be an improvement and a good start for next year."
What are you working to improve about your game? "I'm working on a little bit of everything. Right now, I'm struggling mostly with passing and defense. That is something that I want to get better at and as a player you are always looking to get better."
Describe your playing style in one word? "Intense"
What do you think about the fan representation this season? "I think that it's really good and a lot better than last year. I think that more people know about it this year and they've become more interested. It also helps that we're playing better than last year."
If you could change one rule within the game of volleyball, what would it be? "The double-hit. I wish they would just let us play."
If you could be the head coach for one day, what would the practice routine be like? "I would have us do lots of hitting and just play some games."
Which superpower would you like to have? "I would like to be invisible."
What do you plan on doing with a mathematics degree? "I want to be an actuary."
