Southern Miss Volleyball Continues Road Swing, Visits UCF

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Lady Eagle volleyball team continues its four-match road swing, traveling to UCF in volleyball action Friday at 4 p.m., in the UCF Arena.
Southern Miss (8-9, 1-2) is coming off a 3-0 win at SMU Sunday afternoon. Southern Miss recorded a season-high 20 team blocks. Angela Hlavaty led Southern Miss with 13 kills, Amanda Huntoon had 11 and Ashley Petrinec added 10. Amanda Blunck tallied a team-high 16 digs followed by Maia Ivanova with 13 and Cassie Lavery chipped in 10.
Petrinec continues to lead the team in kills with 174, a 2.72 per game average. Ivanova leads the team in digs with 263, a 4.11 per game average and in aces with 25. Hlavaty leads the team in attack percentage at .214 and Morgan Johnson leads the team in total blocks with 80. Cassie Lavery has recorded 384 assists.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 13.20 kills and 16.37 digs per game with an attack percentage of .157. Five players have recorded 100 or more kills on the season.
UCF comes into the match with a 5-9 record and 1-2 in the league, following a 3-1 lost at Tulsa. Schanell Neiderworder recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs with Maina Heming also adding a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs.
Heming leads the team with 174 kills for a 3.48 per game average and attack percentage at .278. Neiderworder is second on the team with 155 kills. Lorin Lukas leads the team with 169 digs and 36 aces. Andrea Youngblood leads the team in assists with 362.
Head Coach Meg Colado is in her eight season at UCF. As a team, the Golden Knights are averaging 13.99 kills and 15.75 digs per game with an attack percentage of .171. UCF has recorded 114 aces.
Following the UCF match, Southern Miss concludes its road swing with a match at Houston and Rice, Oct. 6 and Oct. 8.
