Southern Miss Volleyball Concludes Homestand

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Lady Eagle volleyball team concludes its four-match homestand, hosting Tulsa in volleyball action Friday at 7 p.m., in the Payne Center.
Southern Miss is coming off a 3-1 loss to UNO on Wednesday night. Southern Miss recorded a season-high 20 team blocks. Angela Hlavaty recorded first career double-double with 11 kills and 11 blocks. Morgan Johnson added 12 total blocks.
Petrinec continues to lead the team in kills with 157, a 2.71 per game average. Ivanova leads the team in digs with 237, a 4.09 per game average and in aces with 25. Hlavaty leads the team in attack percentage at .210 and Morgan Johnson leads the team in total blocks with 73. Cassie Lavery has recorded 342 assists.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 12.97 kills and 15.98 digs per game with an attack percentage of .150. Five players have recorded 100 or more kills on the season.
Tulsa comes into the match with a 14-3 record and 1-0, following a 3-0 win against Fordham. Tulsa has five players with over 100 kills, led by Kassiana Urnau with 220. Kelsey Wood leads the team in digs with 212. Julia Silva leads the team in assists with 672.
Head Coach Ed Allen is in his first season in charge at Tulsa. Allen returns four starters from last year's team that finished with a 23-8 record. The Golden Hurricane is averaging 16.25 kills and 17.74 digs per game with an attack percentage of .256. Tulsa has recorded 122 aces.
SMU is 9-5 on the season and 0-1 in league play following a 3-0 loss to Indiana. The Mustangs play at UCF on Friday night before hosting Southern Miss on Sunday. Rachel Giubilato leads the team with 235 kills and 177 digs.
Head Coach Lisa Seifert is in her 11th season. She returns four starters from last year's team that finished with a 13-16 record. As a team, SMU is averaging 14.92 kills and 15.76 digs per game with an attack percentage of .245.
Following the weekend series, Southern Miss travels to UCF for a match on Sept. 29, continuing a four-match road swing.
