HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Today marked the fourth preseason practice for the Golden Eagle football team, as it took to the Joe P. Park Practice Facility for a three-hour workout.
Practice continues to please Head Coach Jeff Bower, especially with some high temperatures on the field.
"We're pushing through it," Bower said. "The tempo of practice was good today. We had another good work day and got a lot done. We also got to mix some of our young guys in more."
The team returns to the practice field at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, which will also be the first day in full pads.
"We've got to get used to the pads," Bower said. "Usually we don't do much more than what we do with shorts and shoulder pads. We've just got to get the players used to the full pads."
Two-a-day practice starts on Thursday, with a morning and afternoon session at 7:30 a.m., and 3:55 p.m. The team will hold its first big scrimmage on Monday, which will be closed to the public.
Season tickets are now on sale. Additional information on tickets or Eagle Club membership is available by contacting the Southern Miss Ticket Office at 1-800-844-TICK, 601-266-5418, or online at www.SouthernMiss.com.
