HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Mother Nature again played a role in Southern Miss' football practice today, as the team was forced to leave the Joe P. Park Practice Facility for the second time in three days due to lightning, before ending practice in M.M. Roberts Stadium.
"The weather has been cool temperature wise," Head Coach Jeff Bower said. "This is the second time this week we had to go inside until the lightning quit. You do what you can. We've gotten the most out of practice."
After a bad practice day yesterday, Bower said practice was improved today.
"It was better," Bower said. "I don't want to make an excuse about yesterday, but it was the first day of school. I've thought about not practicing on the first day of school. There's so much going on."
Asked if any changes had been made to the depth chart, Bower said "No, not recently. We're trying to get all the players healthy."
The team will practice at 5:45 a.m., Friday morning, before taking the rest of the weekend off.
Season tickets are still now on sale. Additional information on tickets or Eagle Club membership is available by contacting the Southern Miss Ticket Office at 1-800-844-TICK, 601-266-5418, or online at www.SouthernMiss.com.
Southern Miss opens the season on Sept. 2, with a 5 p.m., contest at Florida.
