Soccer's Stephens Receives Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Soccer's Micah Stephens, was named one of 12 recipients of a Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship, league commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today.
The conference annually presents the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the Faculty Athletics Representatives. Stephens, a 2005 Conference USA Player to Watch, was a four-year letterwinner at Southern Miss, serving as team captain as a senior.
She had a career year in 2005, ranking second on the team with five goals, while leading the team with six assists and 16 points.
She ended her career third all-time in assists (13), tied for fifth in assists per match (0.20), eighth in points (29), seventh in goals (eight), second in minutes played (4,069) and tied for first in matches started (63).
A native of Alvarado, Texas, Stephens was named 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team, and was named to the National Dean's List, President's List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Stephens will continue her education at Southern Miss to pursue a Master's Degree in Public Accountancy.
