Brenan Named To Conference USA Championship All-Tournament Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Senior third baseman Ashley Brenan was selected to the 2006 Conference USA Championship All-Tournament team, for her play in the event in Tulsa, Okla.
She becomes Southern Miss' first All-Tournament selection since Jessica Huerta was named to the 2003 All-Tournament team.
Brenan hit .308 during Southern Miss' four games in the tournament, with a team-best four hits, including two triples and a home run. She led the team with 11 total bases and .846 slugging percentage.
The Spring, Texas native finished her senior season with a .272 batting average and led the team with eight home runs, 40 walks, 45 runs and 22 stolen bases.
Southern Miss finished the 2006 Conference USA Championship with a 2-2 record, finishing fourth in the event. The Lady Eagles defeated Houston 2-1 in the tournament's opening game on Thursday, before falling to eventual tournament runner-up Marshall, 7-4 on Thursday afternoon. Southern Miss stayed alive in the tournament with a 3-1 victory over UAB on Friday, before ending the season with a 7-1 loss to Houston.
Southern Miss finished with a 29-38 mark in 2006.
