HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team continued its spring season with a two-hour practice, Wednesday, at the Joe P. Park Practice Fields.
The Golden Eagles went through their 10th practice of the spring, in what Head Coach Jeff Bower deemed a very physical session.
"Practice went well," Bower said. "It started out strong, and we lost some of our intensity towards the end. But it was a very physical practice."
With 10 practices in the books, Southern Miss inches closer to the annual Black and Gold Spring Game, which will be the 15th and final workout of the spring schedule. And through the first 10, Bower and company have brought the players, especially the younger ones, steadily along.
"We've been somewhat simple throughout the spring, especially for our younger players," Bower said. "But we have added some along the way to help our players get accustomed to our system better."
The team now will take Thursday off before returning to the field on Friday afternoon. They then will have the final Saturday scrimmage before the Spring Game at 1:30 p.m., Saturday.
The spring season culminates with the annual Black and Gold Spring Game, which is set for Saturday, April 1, at 1 p.m.
