Baseball Ranked As High As No. 30 in Latest Polls

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team is ranked No. 30 in the nation by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and by Collegiate Baseball.

Southern Miss, (41-21, 20-10 Conference USA in 2005) opens its season at home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m., when it hosts Nicholls State at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

New Conference USA member Rice is No. 3 and Tulane is No. 13 in the NCBWA poll, the Owls are No. 4 and the Green Wave is No. 25 in Collegiate Baseball's poll and Rice is No. 5 and Tulane is No. 12 in Baseball America's poll.
