Lady Eagles Hit The Road For Final Games

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss women's basketball team concludes its regular season on the road, playing at East Carolina on Friday and at Marshall on Sunday.
Game time against East Carolina is set for 6 p.m., and will be broadcast over WXHB-FM 96.5 with the "Voice of the Lady Eagles" Jason Baker providing play-by-play action with former coach Kay James as the color analyst.
Southern Miss is 12-13 overall, 9-5 in league play, following a 76-66 win over UAB. In that game, Kendra Reed scored a career-high 33 points and broke an 18-year-old, single-game record with 18 free throws made. Amber Eugene had 15 points, while Ashley Boehnel and Liz Biland added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Boehnel led the team with six rebounds. Southern Miss trailed by one, 31-30, at the 3:12 mark in the first half, before scoring the last eight points of the half and taking the lead for good.
Reed continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game, followed by Ashley Boehnel, who is averaging 13.5 points. Ashley Harrell is next, averaging 11.2 points followed by Eugene at 10.6 points per game. Eugene also leads the team in rebounding at 6.8 rebounds per game. Southern Miss is averaging 65.9 points and 35.3 rebounds per game as a team, while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 74.5 from the line.
East Carolina, under the direction of Coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener, enters the game with a record of 15-10 overall and 7-7 in the league, following an 81-78 loss at Tulane. In that game, four players scored in double figures, led by Jasmine Young's 25 points, followed by LaCoya Terry with 14 points, Jessica Slack and Cherie Mills added 12 points apiece.
Mills leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.4 points followed by Young at 12.6 points per game. Mills also leads the team in rebounding at 8.0 rebounds per game. Young also leads the team in assists (133) and steals (69).
Following the East Carolina game, Southern Miss concludes its regular season at Marshall on Feb. 26. Game time is noon central.
Scouting East Carolina East Carolina comes into the game, having won two of its last four games. East Carolina has played four overtime games this season, including the last three.
