HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team completed an hour and a half practice, today, at M.M. Roberts Stadium, continuing preparations for the GMAC Bowl on Jan. 7, 2007, against Ohio University, the Mid-American Conference East Division Champions, at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., at 7 p.m.
Today's practice marked the last practice before Christmas as the team begins a 10-day hiatus, before returning on Jan. 1.
"It was a good day," Head Coach Jeff Bower said. "I gave them a workout program that I trust they'll follow. I told them Merry Christmas, be safe and eat right. We also thanked them for everything they've done."
The team is due to report back for a 4 p.m., meeting on Jan. 1, followed by a 7 p.m. practice. The Golden Eagles will complete one final practice on Tuesday, Jan. 2, before traveling to Mobile.
Bower also announced that Robby D'Angelo and Chris Rhoden will be having arthroscopic surgeries at the season's end, and that Ryan McKee will be having shoulder surgery, causing him to miss spring practice.
