Volleyball Team Closes Out Regular Season At Home

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Lady Eagle volleyball team will close out the regular season at home against UAB and Memphis in a Conference USA weekend series. Senior Amanda Blunck and Nicole Rock will be recognized following the match.
Southern Miss (15-15, 6-8) is coming off a 3-0 win against non-conference opponent Alcorn State. Amanda Huntoon recorded 11 kills and Maia Ivanova finished the match with 19 digs.
Angela Hlavaty continues to lead the team in kills with 302, a 2.75 per game average. Ivanova leads the team in digs with 463, a 4.06 per game average and in aces with 47. Mari Ruddick leads the team in attack percentage at .236 and Huntoon leads the team in total blocks with 109. Cassie Lavery has recorded 732 assists.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 13.37 kills and 15.58 digs per game with an attack percentage of .174. Eight players have recorded 100 or more kills on the season with four players topping the 200 mark.
UAB is riding a seven-match win streak, sports a 21-9 record overall and 8-6 in league play, following a 3-2 win over Marshall. Ivano Bozic leads the team with 527 kills and 52 aces. Nevena Stefanov has 1,402 assists and Briana Galvin leads the team in digs with 453.
As a team, the Blazers are averaging 15.39 kills and 15.36 digs per game with an attack percentage of .247. Five players have 100 or more kills on the season with four players over 200.
Memphis has a 23-7 overall record and 9-5 in league play, following a 3-1 loss to East Carolina. Shelby Burton leads the team with 431 kills, .402 attack percentage, 62 aces and 135 blocks. Laura Cote has 1,427 assists on the year and Christen Clayton leads the team with 557 digs.
As a team, the Tigers are averaging 15.72 kills and 15.26 digs per game with an attack percentage of .268. Six players have 100 or more kills on the season, including four with 200 or more.
Following the weekend series, Southern Miss prepares for the Conference USA Tournament, Nov. 16-19, in Houston, Texas.
