HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Golden Eagle football team completed preparations for Saturday's game against UAB, today, with an hour and a half practice at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
"We'll be back tomorrow and ready to go," Head Coach Jeff Bower said.
The Golden Eagles' injury situation is looking good heading into Saturday's competition, with the exception of Mam Nyang (ankle).
"Everybody's doing well," Bower added.
Kickoff for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m., CT., at M.M. Roberts Stadium. Fans not able to attend the game can watch it on CSTV.
Tickets for the UAB game are still available and can be purchased at the Southern Miss Athletic Ticket Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by calling 1-800-844-TICK.
As a part of the game day activities, Southern Miss student-athletes and the Student Academic Enhancement Program will be sponsoring the annual Real Winners Read campaign.
This campaign is a Southern Miss CHAMPS/Life Skills project where all Southern Miss fans are asked to bring a children's book to the football game. Student-athletes collect the books at each gate as fans enter The Rock.
The books are then divided and shared with schools and children's organizations throughout the area. Last year, books collected were donated to organizations and schools on the Gulf Coast that experienced great loss due to Hurricane Katrina. This year the books will again be distributed in that area.
