Throughout the 2006 Lady Eagle Volleyball season, each player will sit down for an interview with a member of the Southern Miss Athletic Media Relations staff to discuss what you want to know about Lady Eagle Volleyball and a little more. Can you dig it?
This week will feature freshman Megan Gable.
What do you think about the season so far? "I think we've been doing really well. We go a lot of five game-matches, but we end up pulling it out. I think we work really well together as a team and it's a great season so far. I hope we keep doing well."
What are your expectations for the remainder of your career here at Southern Miss? "It's really exciting. Hopefully, I'll still get to play a good bit if I'm playing well."
Why Southern Miss? "It's close to home and I really love the campus and the environment here. I also really like the coaches and the team."
How important is team chemistry on the court? "It's very important. If you don't have team chemistry and not talking, you won't mesh well together and balls will drop. Everything gets messed up when you don't have it. It's really important."
What is your major? "Sports Administration"
What do you want to do with that degree? "I don't really know right now. I just decided to do it. Hopefully I can get somewhere and work for a college."
Which superpower would you like to have? "I would like to be really tall and be able to stretch my body out because I'm so short. It would be so cool to just push a button and I would expand."
Do you plan on taking your volleyball career any further after college? "I would like to if it's a possibility, but probably not. I would like to."
Have you ever played sand volleyball? "I have a little bit but not competitively. It's a lot of fun but it's hard."
Which do you prefer, court or sand? "I like court volleyball better. I think it's more fun to play."
Besides winning, what's most rewarding about being a college athlete? "I like being able to meet a lot of cool people and being recognized. The entire aspect of it is amazing."
Do you like to attend any other athletic events on campus? "We're not required but we like to go out and support other teams. They come and support us so we like to do the same for them."
What other sports do you like to play? "I didn't really play any other sports in high school but I like to play soccer and softball."
Why did you choose to pursue volleyball? "It was my thing. I was a lot better at it than I was with the other sports. I like it a lot better and it's more fun."
