Volleyball Plays at Home For The First Time

HATTIESBURG, Miss.
-- After playing the first eight matches on the road, the Golden Eagles are set for their home debut this weekend, hosting Memphis and UAB in a Conference USA series.Southern Miss is coming off a 3-1 loss to UCF in its conference opener, dropping to 4-4 on the season and 0-1. Freshman Ashley Petrinec leads the team in kills with 102. Three other players have 60 or more kills on the season. Ednali Serralta leads the team in aces with 14, while Amanda Blunck leads the team in digs with 155. Morgan Johnson and Jazzmien Stephens have 31 and 25 blocks, respectively.
Memphis comes in with an 8-7 record and plays its first conference match, after rescheduling last weekend matches. The Lady Tigers have lost their last five matches. Four players have 100 or more kills, led by Nancy Nellans with 194. Nellans also leads the team in digs with 194. Four players have recorded 25 or more aces.
UAB also opens C-USA play this weekend, playing at UCF on Friday. The Blazers are 9-1 after an 8-0 start. Ivana Bozic leads the team with 166 kills and 20 aces. Amy White leads the team in digs with 108.
Following the UAB match, Southern Miss hits the road for three straight matches.
