The Lady Eagles enter the weekend series after winning two games by forfeit against Louisiana Tech Wednesday night, claiming both games 7-0. Louisiana Tech did not have enough players to play the game, after one Lady Techster got sick and the team did not have a replacement player.
Southern Miss (24-28, 6-12) hits .273 as a team, with 212 runs, 342 hits, 62 doubles, five triples, 23 home runs, 176 RBI and 85 stolen bases.
Charity Butler leads the squad with a .358 batting average and .428 on-base percentage, while ranking second on the team with 48 hits. Jessica Huerta leads the Lady Eagles in numerous offensive categories, including hits (52), doubles (13), runs (34), triples (three), stolen bases (22) and is tied with Ashley Davis for the team lead in RBI (31).
The team?s pitching staff has an ERA of 3.90, with 28 complete games and 12 shutouts. It has allowed 359 hits, 232 runs, 181 earned, walked 120, struck out 178, while holding team?s to a .276 batting average.
Krystal Crooks leads the staff with a 3.15 ERA, 11-10 record and 15 complete games. She has pitched a staff high 151 innings, allowing 158 hits, 88 runs, 68 earned, 48 walks, 56 strikeouts, while holding batters to a .265 average. Danielle Wymer leads the staff with 103 strikeouts, a career-high. She also has a team best five shutouts. Wymer is enjoying perhaps the best stretch of her career, as she has allowed only six hits and two earned runs in her last three starts. She also has 20 strikeouts in that span, against six walks.
UAB enters this weekend's series with a 20-33 overall record and 6-12 Conference
The Lady Blazers hit .229 as a team, with 155 runs, 310 hits, 48 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 123 RBI and 45 stolen bases.
Chelsea McCall leads the team with a .299 batting average and 49 hits. Sara Christophel has a team-high eight home runs, 23 RBI. Three players, including Leigh Walker, Christophel and Kris Lara have three home runs on the season. Lindsay Stanley has scored a team best 26 runs and stolen 25 bases.
UAB's pitching staff has an ERA of 3.50, 23 complete games and five shutouts. It has allowed 246 runs, 174 earned, allowed 371 hits, walked 169, struck out 281, while holding team's to a .267 batting average.
Jennifer Nelson has made a team best 15 starts and has a 2.37 ERA, 8-6 record, three shutouts and eight complete games, while holding batters to a .227 average. Amanda Antonovich has made 30 appearances and has pitched a team-high 103 innings and has six complete games on the season. Erica Mascarenas has a 2.13 ERA in 14 appearances.
