NEW ORLEANS, La. ? The Southern Miss men?s tennis team battled back after dropping the doubles? point, taking a 4-2 victory over Charlotte in the Conference USA Tennis Shootout at Goldring Tennis Stadium on Friday. Southern Miss improved to 5-2, while
?I am very proud of these guys and the way they battled in the singles after losing the doubles? point,? Head Coach Teddy Viator said. ?Marc Lux didn?t get a win today, but he kept his opponent on the court and that took the pressure off of David Canudas. David got a win over one of the better players in the conference.?
The Golden Eagles won four of the six singles, with Dylan Mezey opening the match with a win at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-3, over Zvi Lantsberg to tie the match at 1-1. Canudas defeated Roy Sichel at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Garzon posted a win at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, over Dorian Host. Reid Bourgeois defeated Vencatachellum at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Christopher Rae lost at No. 2 singles to Santoso, 7-5, 6-2. With the Golden Eagles posting the fourth win, Marc Lux?s match was suspended.
