Football Continues Marshall Preparations

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Following two days off, the Southern Miss football team returned to the practice field today with a two-hour practice at the Joe P. Park practice facility.
Head Coach Jeff Bower said the team responded well after the layoff.
"We had a good day after two days off," Bower said. "We practiced hard."
Tuesday's game will be the first meeting between Southern Miss (4-3 overall, 3-1 in Conference USA and Marshall (4-4, 3-2).
"Tuesday's game will be one where both teams know a lot about each other," Bower said, referring to Marshall Offensive Coordinator Larry Kueck's familiarity Southern Miss as a former member of the Golden Eagle coaching staff. "We've seen their offense."
Bower said senior defensive lineman Terrance Ford (meniscus) was held out of practice today, adding that he is only sore may do limited work in practice tomorrow.
"He'll be ready to go on Saturday," Bower said.
In addition, Bower said that injury wise, "everyone else is good." Both junior defensive back Caleb Hendrix and senior tight end Pedi Causey are back full strength at practice. Bower also said that Tavarres Williams (strained MCL) is "a little limited and we'll wait and see", adding that Williams is "mentally" trying to get used to wearing a brace.
Game time for Tuesday's game is set for 6:30 p.m., and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
