Shawn Nelson had a career day against Tulane, finishing with five catches for 113 yards, an average of 22.6 yards per catch, all career highs in helping Southern Miss defeat Tulane, 26-7 and earn its sixth win of the season. He scored one touchdown, tying his season high and had his long catch of the season in that game when he scored on a 63-yard pass play in the third quarter with 4:47 left. For the season, Nelson is the team's second-leading receiver with 29 catches for 419 yards, an average of 14.4 yards per catch and has scored three touchdowns.
