BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Southern Miss volleyball team road woes continued as the Lady Eagles lost to UAB in three straight games on Sunday, 30-27, 30-22, 30-26.
The Blazers improve to 14-7 and 5-6 in Conference USA, while the Golden Eagles drop to 6-14 overall and are still in search of their first league win at 0-11.
Ashley Petrinec led Southern Miss with nine kills, while Kaitlyn Deutsch posted nine digs. UAB's Ivana Bozic led all players with 18 kills and added 11 digs, while Angie Ping had a career-best 13 kills.
The Blazers recorded 13 service aces, compared to just three for the Golden Eagles.
After holding on for a 30-27 win in the opening game, the Blazers hit .268 in the second for a 30-22 victory in game two. The third and final game was a closer contest, but Southern Miss had more attack errors than kills for a negative hitting percentage, allowing UAB to finish off the match with a 30-26 win.
Southern Miss returns to action on Tuesday when the Golden Eagles travel to Tulsa for a rescheduled match, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m.
