Southern Miss Volleyball Team Falls To Memphis In Five Games

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Southern Miss volleyball lost a heartbreaker to Memphis in five games, 3-2 (30-23, 30-25, 30-32, 15-30, 8-13) on Friday. Southern Miss falls to 6-13 and 0-10 in Conference USA, while Memphis improved to 15-11 and 6-3.
Amber Bloom led Southern Miss with 14 kills and Jazzmien Stephens added 10 kills. Ednali Serralta led the team with 14 digs. Fehi Tuivai and Shelby Burton recorded 14 kills apiece and Ashley Liford had 13 kills. Christen Clayton had 17 digs and five aces.
Southern Miss took a two-game lead, winning 30-23 and 30-25, before Memphis battled back from a 24-18 deficit to take game three, 32-30. In game four, Clayton ended game four serving eight straight points for the 30-15 win. Memphis jumped out to an early lead and held on for the 15-8 win.
Southern Miss returns to action on Sunday with a match at UAB at 1 p.m.
