Football Finishes Preparations For Nebraska

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss concluded preparations for its season-opening game at Nebraska Thursday, with an hour and a half practice at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.

The Golden Eagles spent the practice fine tuning the game plan for Nebraska, as the offense, defense, and special teams units each drilled aspects of the game plan.

Head Football Coach Jeff Bower said the team is ready to play.

?I thought we had good final practice,? Bower said. ?We were good mentally and our execution was good. We?re ready to play Saturday.?

Bower announced that redshirt senior Dillon Cleckler will start at middle linebacker, redshirt junior Darrell Bennett will start at safety, and freshman Britt Barefoot  will kickoff duties.

Southern Miss opens its season Saturday at Nebraska, in an 11 a.m., ABC game that will be seen in 30 states, ranging from Florida to Montana. The Golden Eagles open their home schedule the following Thursday, Sept. 16, against California, in a 6:30 p.m. contest.
