Concession Upgrades In Store For 2004
HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss officials have announced new concession agreements that are in store for the 2004-05 school year to upgrade the quality of products served at the football, men's and women's basketball and baseball games this year.
The University, along with C&M Concessions - a subsidiary of Hattiesburg Coca-Cola, and Polk's Meats have entered into a three-year agreement. The athletic venues of M.M. Roberts Stadium, Reed Green Coliseum and Pete Taylor Park will exclusively sell Polk's hot dogs and sausage dogs, and Polk's turkey legs will be sold at selected concession stands.
"I'm excited that we have partnered with the University of Southern Mississippi Athletic Department and have become the supplier of three different 'fun foods' to be sold at athletic venues," said John Polk, owner of Polk's meats. "We think the fans will be pleased with the new additions to the football concessions which will be available this season. The increased variety of items at the concession areas certainly will make the game day experience more enjoyable for everyone. Our partnership with Southern Miss athletics should prove to be a winner for everyone this year, especially Golden Eagle fans." "John Polk approached the University about increasing the variety of choices for Southern Miss fans at games," said Owen Shull, General Manager of ISP Sports, the official marketer of Southern Miss Athletics. "We are pleased with these new additions. John is a Southern Miss fan, and we look forward to a long partnership with Polk's Meats." There are also agreements with Pizza Hut and Krispy Kreme to be sold at football contests. Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be sold on the lower west side of the football stadium, and Pizza Hut products will be sold throughout the stadium. Southern Miss opens its season Sept. 11, at Nebraska, in a nationally televised 11 a.m., ABC game, and will host California the following Thursday, Sept. 16, in a 6:30 p.m., ESPN contest.
