Southern Miss visits New Orleans in a rescheduled match

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss Lady Eagle volleyball team travels to New Orleans, La., for a rescheduled match against New Orleans. The match was reshceduled because of Hurricane Ivan.
Southern Miss is coming off a 0-2 weekend, when the Lady Eagles lost to Ohio University and No. 11 Colorado State in the University Park Classic.
Leslie VanDuinen led Southern Miss over the weekend with a 11 kills and 11 digs against Ohio and nine kills against Colorada State. VanDuinen finished the tournament averaging 3.33 kills and 3.17 digs per game.
VanDuinen leads the team in kills with 81, while Jazzmien Stephens leads the team in blocks with 39. Amanda Blunck leads the team in digs with 105.
UNO comes in with a 6-2 record and has not played since Sept. 11. The Privateers were scheduled to play at LSU over the weekend, but those matches were cancelled.
Jennifer Cruz leads the team in kills with 107 kills, while Jayne Duncan leads the team in digs with 169 and aces with 16.
The meeting with UNO will be the 18th meeting between the two teams, and UNO leads the series 20-7.
Following the UNO match, Southern Miss travels to Tallahassee, Fla., for a match against Florida A&M, Sept. 25.
