Football Concludes Weekly Practice
The team will condition Friday morning, and will have the weekend off, before resuming game week preparations on Sunday.
Thursday?s practice saw the Golden Eagles continue preparations for their season opening game at
Head Football Coach Jeff Bower said he thinks the team needs the time off.
?I think they?re tired of practicing against each other,? Bower said. ?I think it?s gotten to a point where it?s getting monotonous. We?ve been out here a month, and I know we asked for the extra week. We needed the practice, the walk throughs and the meetings. That?s what we needed the most.?
Bower said he expects the coming game week to be different than the first month of practice.
?I expect next week to be a lot different once we get into game week,? Bower said. ?Practice has been a grind for this first month. I think that the time off will get the team more excited when we return to practice on Monday.?

During the next week, Bower said a few positions will be determined, including who will handle kickoffs. Bower added if the team played tomorrow, sophomore Darren McCaleb would handle field goal kicks, while freshman Britt Barefoot would handle kickoff duties.
?We?re going to continue to chart them,? Bower said. ?We?ll make a decision by mid-week.?
