Southern Miss Volleyball Team Loses to Ohio University, 3-0

VanDuinen posted a double-double

FORT COLLINS, Colo. ? Ohio University took advantage of a poor hitting performance by the Southern Miss Lady Eagle volleyball team, defeating Southern Miss in three straight games (14-30, 19-30, 22-30), in the University Park Classic Friday evening.

Leslie VanDuinen led the Lady Eagles with a double-double, 11 kills and 11 digs with Amanda Blunck adding 11 digs. Stephanie Blackburn led Ohio (7-2) with a match-high 17 kills with Julia Winkfield adding 11 kills. Michaele Blackburn recorded 11 digs and Briana Adamovsky added 10 digs.

Southern Miss got off to a slow start and never quite regained its form, losing the first game, 30-14. The Lady Eagles improved on their attack percentage, hitting .194, but Ohio had only five attack errors in a 30-19 win in game two. The Lady Eagles had a better showing in game three, but Ohio was able to hold off the Lady Eagles, 30-22.

Southern Miss (3-3) returns to action at 2 p.m., against No. 11 Colorado State.
