With No Game, Football Prepares For Tulane
The threat of inclement weather due to Hurricane Ivan forced the cancellation of the Thursday game, as classes on the campus have been cancelled for the remainder of the week.
Southern Miss Head Football Coach Jeff Bower said the Golden Eagles will not practice Wednesday or Thursday, but are scheduled to practice Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, and take Sunday off.
?I think the weather is going to bring heavy wind and rain the next few days,? Bower said. ?We?re encouraging our players to stay. We can?t force them to stay, but they are safe in the dorms. There?s no where to go. We?re going to open the
Bower said the uncertainty surrounding this week?s game has been frustrating.
?We as coaches have been wondering all week who to practice for,? Bower said. ?But the game ended up being canceled, so we introduced Tulane to the players today. It?s disappointing that we won?t be playing
Bower added that redshirt junior Naton Stewart will still be suspended for the
