Football Continues Fall Practice

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? The Golden Eagle football team returned to the practice field, today, at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility, for a two and a half hour workout.

Southern Miss began preparations for the season-opener at Nebraska and rehearsed phases of the special teams. The offense and defense worked separately at the beginning of practice, before ending the final 45 minutes the session together.

Head Football Coach Jeff Bower was pleased with the practice.

?We had a good day,? Bower said. ?The team came out focused and ready to practice. I was very pleased. The effort was good for the most part. The team wants the weekend off, so they?ll practice hard this week.?

Southern Miss opens its season Sept. 11 at Nebraska, in an 11 a.m., nationally televised game on ABC. The Golden Eagles open their home schedule the following Thursday, Sept. 16, against California, in a 6:30 p.m., ESPN game.
