Football, Volleyball Teams Receive Academic Awards

 

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss football and volleyball teams have been honored as recipients of the Sport Academic Award, Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today.

The award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest grade point average for the current academic year.

The Golden Eagle football team posted a 2.5 grade point average to lead all football teams, while the Lady Eagle volleyball team posted a sport best 3.48 GPA.

Saint Louis, which won the Institutional Excellence Award for the highest grade point average for the current academic year, posted the top GPA in six different sports to lead all Conference USA schools. DePaul had three, while Southern Miss, Louisville, and USF each had the highest grade point average in two sports.
