Baseball Ranked As High As No. 12 In Latest Polls HATTIESBURG, Miss. ?
Southern Miss (39-13, 20-7 Conference USA) swept Charlotte in a three-game Conference USA weekend series, 11-4, 3-1 and 12-11.
East Carolina (45-8) is ranked No. 4 by Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA, No. 7 by Baseball America and No. 8 by Sports Weekly-ESPN Coaches Poll. Tulane (37-15) is ranked No. 11 by NCBWA and Baseball America, No. 12 by Sports-Weekly-ESPN Coaches Poll and No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball.
Southern Miss travels to New Orleans, La., on Tuesday, May 18, for a 6:30 p.m., start against UNO at Privateer Park. The Golden Eagles then close out the regular season with a three-game Conference USA series with East Carolina for a chance at the conference championship. Southern Miss has to win all three to at least share the conference championship with East Carolina and possibly Tulane, who also has to sweep Houston and count on a Southern Miss sweep. Thursday and Friday's games start at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday's game starts at 1 p.m. Saturday's game will mark the last regular-season home game for six Golden Eagle seniors, who will be honored in ceremonies that day.
