Southern Miss Drops Close Match to UNLV, 4-3

Southern Miss opened the match, winning the doubles' point, when Thomas Funke and Juan Garzon defeated Romain Massaro and Aviram Salomon (UNLV), 8-4, at No. 2 doubles; then Christopher Rea and Reid Bourgeois clinched the doubles? point at No. 3 doubles, defeating David DiMartino and Marko Blagojevic (UNLV), 8-5.
Junior David Canudas downed the No. 57-ranked player, Henner Nehles (UNLV) at No. 1 singles in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. The Golden Eagles recorded their final point at No 3 singles with Christopher Rea defeating Romain Massaro (UNLV), 6-7, 6-4, 2-1 retired. UNLV clinched the match, winning the No. 6 singles when Marko Blagojevic (UNLV) rallied from a set down to defeat Dylan Mezey, 1-6, 7-6, 6-0.
Southern Miss returns to action against The Citadel, Mar. 16.
