Senior linebacker Michael Boley won the Conerly Trophy Wednesday. |
Boley was one of three finalists for the award, besting
He becomes the second Golden Eagle player to win to win the honor, joining Rod Davis, who won the trophy in 2002. Boley is also the second defensive player to win the Conerly Trophy, since the award was created in 1996.
Boley is a four-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week winner this season. He is also a national semifinalist for the Butkus Award, which goes to the nation?s top linebacker, and the Bednarik Award, which goes to the nation?s top defensive player and the Ronnie Lott award, which awards both on and off the field excellence. The Athens, Ala., native leads Southern Miss and ranks third in Conference USA in tackles with 111 and ranks ninth nationally in both solo tackles (6.5/game) and total tackles (11.1/game).
