Football Continues Memphis Preparations

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? The Golden Eagle football team continued preparations for Friday?s Memphis game today, with a two-hour practice at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.

Head Football Coach Jeff Bower said the team has responded well in practice this week, following Saturday?s loss to Cincinnati.

?The quicker you can get back on the field (following a game like the Cincinnati game), the better,? Bower said. ?The team?s attitude has been very good. We?ve had two good days of practice so far this week.?

Bower said the he is confident that the mistakes made on pass defense will be corrected for the Memphis game.

?We just got beat too many times against Cincinnati,? Bower said. ?If you play long enough in man coverage, you?re going to get beat. We?ll be better. That (the Cincinnati game) is going to happen to you occasionally. We?ve got guys that are working hard on defense. They?ve bounced back and have worked hard this week.?

Southern Miss, 5-2, 4-1 in Conference USA, returns to action Friday, Nov. 12, at Memphis. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m., and will be shown nationally on ESPN2.
