With Southern Miss? 52-24 loss today, the team?s 13-consecutive game Conference Southern Miss and Today?s game between Southern Miss and With its 28 point defeat to Tonight?s 28-point defeat, was Southern Miss? biggest margin of defeat, since also losing by 28 to Redshirt freshman quarterback Jeremy Young scored his first career touchdown tonight, on a one-yard run in the fourth quarter. Freshman wide receiver Tavarres Williams had a team-high 71 receiving yards, setting a career high. He had a 39-yard reception fro Dustin Almond, marking his longest career catch. Darren McCaleb connected on a 20-yard field goal in the third quarter, his first field goal since making a 37-yarder Oct. 16 at Redshirt freshman running back Larry Thomas recorded a 79-yard run in the fourth quarter, marking his career long. The run also was the longest of any Southern Miss runner this season, and was marked the second-longest non-touchdown run, since Don Fuell ran for 78 yards against Hardin-Simmons in Sept. 9, 1960. The longest non-touchdown run came in 1951, on an 82-yard run by Lindy Stewart against Louisiana-Lafayette, Oct. 13, 1951. Southern Miss starting quarterback Dustin Almond returned to the lineup today, after missing the past two games with a strained hamstring, following his 18-yard touchdown run Oct. 7 against Junior receiver Antwon Courington caught three passes for 34 yards today, and has now caught a pass in 17-consecutive games. Senior DaRon Lawrence had two catches for 63 yards tonight, marking his highest total of the season. Redshirt sophomore fullback Wayne Hardy scored his third touchdown of the season and third of his career on a one-yard run in the second quarter today. For the fourth consecutive game, Southern Miss lost the coin toss in today?s game, receiving the ball on offense first. Southern Miss won its first three coin tosses of the season and deferred all three to the second half. Southern Miss converted on two fourth downs tonight and have converted on at least one fourth down in three-consecutive games. Junior defensive back Trevis Coley recorded 12 tackles tonight, six solos and six assists, marking a new career high.
