Jazzmien Stephens led the Eagle attack with 17 kills, Amanda Blunck tallied 15 kills and a match-high 16 digs, and Morgan Johnson added 10 kills. Amy Truong, playing in her last match, posted 12 digs and became only the 10th player in Lady Eagle history to record over 1,000 digs in a career. Leslie VanDuinen also added 10 digs.
UAB?s Nicole Bowland led the Blazers with 12 kills and Brianna Galvin had 14 digs.
Southern Miss out-hit UAB .333 to .140 and recorded 61 digs.
Southern Miss reeled off the first six points before UAB was able to score on a kill by Bowland. The Lady Eagles hit a blistering .407 in a 30-10 victory in game one.
In game two, both teams traded points throughout the match. The largest lead by either team was two points. There were 14 ties and six lead changes. Southern Miss used a 4-0 run to take a 25-22 lead. UAB fought off three game points before Southern Miss won the game on a Blunck kill.
Southern Miss started out strong in game three, but UAB refused to cooperate, keeping the game close with timely hitting. Southern Miss led 25-21, when UAB went on an 8-3 run to take a 29-28 lead on a Jenna Link service ace. Following a Southern Miss timeout, Stephens tied the game with a kill and Charli Lindley had an attack error, giving Southern Miss a 30-29 lead. Stephens finished the game with another kill in a 31-29 victory.
