Softball To Host Southern Miss Fall Classic Saturday
The tournament will consist of eight games, six of which will be played at the Southern Miss Softball Complex, with the other two at William Carey Field.

Head Coach Gay McNutt said the team is ready to play.
?This week of practice has been good and productive, especially, for our newcomers,? McNutt said. ?Our upperclassmen have looked steady and confident, and the newcomers are starting to come around. We?re excited and I think this tournament will be good for us.?
Junior second baseman Charity Butler said the team is anxious to get on the field.
?We?ve been practicing for several weeks,?
McNutt said the team will gain valuable experience from the tournament.
?There are a lot of things that happen in game situations that you can?t prepare for during practice,? McNutt said. ?We need to play some games to prepare for those certain situations, and see how our newcomers will react. I hope we come out and hit the ball well, and pick up where we left off offensively last year. I?m also looking for pitcher Jessica Saunier to step up, and see what she can do.?
Admission into the tournament is free.
?We?re hoping people will come out and watch us play,? McNutt said. ?They?ll see where this team is headed.?
