Southern Miss Begins Four-match Homestand HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Lady Eagle volleyball team steps out of Conference USA action, hosting in-state rival Alcorn State, Oct. 5, in the Payne Center at 7 p.m. Southern Miss is coming off an 0-2 weekend, losing at Houston and TCU in league play. Amy Truong recorded her first triple-double, tallying 15 kills, 29 assists and 18 digs against Houston. Morgan Johnson added 15 kills and 11 digs. Against TCU, Johnson led the Lady Eagle attack with 12 kills and Jazzmien Stephens added 11. Stephens leads the team in kills (108) and total blocks (59). Truong continues to lead the team in assists, and she is second on the team in digs, while Amanada Blunck leads the team in digs. Alcorn State comes in with a 5-6 record, following a 3-0 loss to Grambling. Moriah Robertson leads the Braves with 87 kills, followed closely by LaQuita Daniels with 85. Tamara Myrick leads the team in aces. This is the eighth meeting between the two teams, and Southern Miss leads 7-0. Following the Alcorn match, Southern Miss resumes C-USA action, Oct. 8 and 9, against Memphis and Saint Louis, respectively.
